Rebecca Ann Phillips was welcomed into Ignite Christian Academy® in 2002, and she has been with us ever since! A member of the class of 2010, Rebecca has a love for music, especially the violin. Each week, she takes violin, ballet, and tap dance classes at Colorado State University-Pueblo and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
"Comparatively speaking, Rebecca started the violin late," said Bonnie Phillips, Rebecca's mother. "Rebecca fully understands that God has given her this talent. He has helped her to catch up with the repertoire and necessary techniques needed to compete and be successful in the world of music. Rebecca gives all the credit to God, and she trusts in His plan for her."
Bonnie appreciates that ICA is flexible, which works well with Rebecca's various performance and chamber music classes that require her to be away from home during the week. From their home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, they travel to Pueblo two or three times each week, so ICA gives her the ability to work in the car and on weekends.
"Rebecca would not be able to attend these classes if she did not homeschool," said Bonnie. "We also love the fact that ICA is Christian-based."
Rebecca has a 4.0 GPA, and she is ranked in the top 5% of her class. Rebecca plans to continue her study of the violin after graduation. She is looking into various music conservatories to fulfill her dream of becoming a member of a professional chamber group.
Rebecca's hard work and dedication to music and school have earned her the honor of ICA's July Student of the Month! Congratulations, Rebecca!
