The September 2021 elementary student of the month at Ignite Christian Academy (ICA) is Avery Fender, a 3rd grade student who would much rather eat sushi than mac and cheese or pizza. A student in her second year at ICA, Avery has already lived in four different time zones in her young life and currently calls central New Mexico home. While her teachers have enjoyed having Avery as a student, Avery has enjoyed the flexibility online schooling gives her family to travel around the country.
“Avery has been diligently working on her assignments,” wrote elementary teacher Marianne Jeffries. “She even submitted double the work for two of her tests. She did not let these extended testing times discourage her. She kept working hard and is continuing to excel in her academics. I am nominating her for her perseverance in her schoolwork.”
My ICA Story
I am currently finishing the third grade at Ignite Christian Academy. This is my second year with the school. My dad travels for work. For quite a while, we were considering homeschool or an online school so we could travel with him. When the pandemic began last year, we decided to try it. My mom likes that the curriculum is prepared, the teachers are available for help, and we can set our own schedule.
Why I Love ICA
I like that I have more free time to travel with my family and learn about the world.
My Favorite Subject
Bible is my favorite class because I like learning about God.
My Family
I have a 4-year-old brother named Jack. We like to play pretend, jump on the trampoline, go on outings with our homeschool friends, and swim.
My Hobbies
Our family likes to travel and visit new places. I also like to play with my brother and neighborhood friends. I love to bake and read history books.
My Dream Job
I want to be a chemist like my dad. I like mixing stuff together to see what happens.
My Words of Wisdom
Do the work so you have more time to play!
