The Ignite Christian Academy elementary student of the month for February is Dominick Dunmire. Dominick is an active student, often going on field trips, playing with his peers or going to the beach! Dominick lives in Virginia Beach, Virginia where he loves that he can swim for seven months out of the year. His family are also really close to the beach where they can go enjoy the boardwalk or the Atlantic Ocean. They also have lots of nature trails and exciting things to do all year round. If you don’t want to go to the beach during the tourist season, you can go to the mountains in North Carolina or head to the outer banks to enjoy some fun!
Mrs. Chastain nominated Dominick to be student of the month stating, “Not only does Dominick turn in wonderful work but he is helpful. He has been in several online classes with me and he is always encouraging the other students. He loves to give them tips on their work and cheer them forward. He is delightful and very inquisitive.”
My ICA Story
I started ICA at the beginning of 3rd grade and have enjoyed ICA for 2.5 years.
After finishing my 2nd grade year in public schools doing online learning my grandma began checking into private schooling for me. She has a friend whose grandson was attending ICA and told us all about how he loved the school. My grandma decided to check it out along with other schools and we liked what ICA had to offer and the way the program was set up.
Why I love ICA
By learning at home with ICA I can complete my work in a much shorter timeframe and take breaks when I need them. I find that I do not waste time during the day. I also like the fact that I can go on field trips with my grandparents during the week and make up my schoolwork on weekends if I need to. I also like it when my grandparents take me to the places where I am studying in school.
I really like the fact that we can join clubs such as reading and Lego clubs. It surprised me that I can still interact with other kids while learning at home. I can even attend HYPE, (homeschool youth physical education) at the YMCA and still play with other kids as I exercise
My Favorite Subject
I absolutely love math. I find that math comes really easy to me and I enjoy working with numbers and solving problems.
What I like to do for fun
I like to read and play with my Legos. We also have game nights and movie nights where we all get together as a family. I love to listen to many different types of music.
I love to draw, and I play the drums. I have a full large set that I play, and I also play music with my teacher.
My siblings
I have two half-brothers and two stepbrothers that live in another state. I am the only child in our home.
My Dream Job
I would love to be an engineer so I can design the cars of the future.
My Words of Wisdom
Study hard and enjoy the experience of school. Be sure to have fun as well.
