The April 2020 student of the month at Ignite Christian Academy is Paulus Pieke van der Zee, a 3rd grade student who lives in Spain and has impressed his teachers at ICA with his love for the Lord and the study of God’s Word and creation.
“He is a straight A student and puts great effort into completing his projects and actually goes beyond the requirements for projects,” wrote Mrs. Christine Johnson, who nominated Paulus for this month’s honor. “He answers questions well and asks questions when something is not understood. Paulus loves Jesus, and someday I believe is going to make a huge impact on our world.”
My ICA Story
I have been a student at Ignite Christian Academy since September 2018. A missionary advised my parents in 2013 to use the material of Alpha Omega Publications for homeschooling, so they started with Horizons Kindergarten curriculum in 2016. They like the Christ-centered material a lot and found out that ICA offers the desired international accreditation.
Why I Love ICA
I like that I have the freedom to learn by myself with less assistance from my parents.
My Favorite Subject
I enjoy science because it’s full of interesting information, fun activities, and videos.
My Family
I have a younger sister called Grace and a younger brother called Lucas. We like to play together with Playmobil and have fun role-playing.
My Life in Spain
I enjoy the nice weather and the beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea from our house.
My Hobbies
I like to spend my free time by drawing, making things out of cardboard, and playing with LEGOs.
My Name
In 2 Timothy 2:15 the apostle Paul wrote, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (NKJV). I am glad to have been named after him and to be a young ambassador of the risen Jesus Christ proclaiming the gospel of the grace of God. My second name is the Frisian name of my paternal grandfather.
My Dream Job
My dream is to fly a Boeing 747 as a captain. I love airplanes and it will allow me to see many places in the world.
My Goals
My goal is to improve my English and to speak many languages. At the moment I know how to speak basic Spanish, basic Dutch (my father is Dutch), and I understand some Cebuano (my mother is Filipina).
My Words of Wisdom
First, try to finish each day’s assignments in order to have free time. Secondly, grow in Biblical knowledge and be active in evangelizing by giving away gospel tracts or inviting people to like a Christian Facebook page like Badnewsgoodnews.net of my parents). Thirdly, support in a critical but loving way any Christ-centered organization like Ignite Christian Academy.
