In connection with our school’s name change to Ignite Christian Academy, our community has proudly adopted the Knights as our school mascot. After receiving over 300 written and illustrative entries that covered seemingly everything from Axolotls to Laptops to Whales, three finalists were selected for a schoolwide vote. In the end, Knights was chosen by our families over Lions and Eagles.
We are excited about our new name and mascot because we believe that the Knight is an excellent representation of our mission as a school to ignite a passion in our students to impact the world for the sake of God’s glory.
Our new logo reflects the message Paul gives to the church at the conclusion of Ephesians, where he urges the church to stand firm in their faith and in their unity as believers in Jesus Christ as their one true Savior. In putting on the full armor of God as Christian Knights, we are called to take on the attributes of our Messiah since we are now the body of Christ. Paul urges the Ephesians and us to proactively use prayers, the Scriptures, and our relationships with each other to help us grow and mature as followers of Jesus.
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:10-18).
