Rock Rapids, IA (July 10, 2014) – On August 1, Ignite Christian Academy will release 13 new courses to Switched-On Schoolhouse. Ranging from business and technology to health and fitness, the courses are designed to prepare students with life and career skills to be used after graduation. All courses will be available for grades 9-12.
1. Business Computer Information Systems I-A
Prepare for a job in the modern business world with lessons in word processing, keyboarding, data entry and formulas, database usage and queries, and projects that cover business document creation.
2. Business Computer Information Systems I-B
Continue your study of computer information systems with topics including telecommunication technology, email ethics and Internet etiquette, desktop publishing and design considerations, presentation technology, and more.
3. Fundamentals of Computer Systems
Learn to configure computer settings, install programs, and troubleshoot errors while studying operating systems and computer security.
4. Fundamentals of Digital Media
Explore media production, website design, social media, game design, media effectiveness, and how businesses use digital media.
5. Fundamentals of Programming and Software Development
Practice basic software development procedures, techniques, and trends, write original Java programs, and study career opportunities.
6. Introduction to Information Technology
Build a foundation for a career with this study of operating systems, mobile applications, Internet utilization, and interpersonal skills that are highly valued among IT employers.
7. Introduction to Information Technology Support and Services
Apply hardware and software knowledge to analyze technical support requests and perform customer service tasks while maintaining a safe work environment.
8. Introduction to Network Systems
Get to know the fundamental technology and concepts that make networking systems possible, including the software and hardware supporting LANs, WANs, and Wi-Fi networks.
9. New Applications: Web Development in the 21st Century
Gain hands-on experience designing websites, creating HTML coding, embedding media, integrating with 3rd party websites, and building blogs and mobile apps.
10. Office Applications I
Instill office software skills such as designing, developing, editing, and sharing business documents using Microsoft® Word®, PowerPoint®, and Publisher®.
11. Office Applications II
Use Microsoft® Access® and Excel® to gain marketable skills such as data entry, formatting, formulas, functions, charts, and enhancing resumes for employment and college.
12. Physical Education
Focus on proper technique, rules of the game, and preparation for individual and team sports, as well as the basics of fitness, strength, endurance, and nutrition.
13. Small Business Entrepreneurship
Explore business development, organization, and management while gaining the skills necessary to work within financing, legal regulations, considerations, marketing, record keeping, or as an entrepreneur.
