Rock Rapids, IA (May 28, 2015) – Jerin Hesseltine, a 2015 graduate of Ignite Christian Academy from Palm Desert, California, has been named a finalist for this year's National Honor Society Scholarship.
Chosen from a pool of nearly 6,800 applicants, Hesseltine received a $1,000 college scholarship for her recognition as one of the top 200 National Honor Society members in the nation this school year. Hesseltine was selected on the basis of her academic record and hundreds of hours of service through The Salvation Army Davis Community Center in Cathedral City, California, and Family Heritage Church in La Quinta, California.
"Jerin is an outstanding example of a young woman who has a commitment to excellence and serving God through the many gifts she has been given," said Ignite Christian Academy Principal Joseph Bakker. "Our staff congratulates her and is excited for her to receive this much deserved recognition."
Ignite Christian Academy maintains an active chapter of the National Honor Society, which semi-annually admits academically eligible sophomores, juniors, and seniors upon invitation of the faculty. NHS members must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and are recognized for outstanding academics, leadership, character, and community service.
This fall, Hesseltine plans to attend East Texas Baptist University to earn a bachelor's degree in nursing and continue her legacy of service to others, possibly as a missionary.
