The elementary teachers at Ignite Christian Academy want to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year! We are all excited for what this year holds and are so happy to have you as a member of our school family. We also want to share a few plans for the year and tips for success to ensure a smooth, fun-filled year of learning.
Here are a few suggestions from our teachers and staff to help your student have a successful year. We recommend that students have a notebook for each course and that they take notes as they read through the lessons. Writing down main concepts, formulas, vocabulary words, and other new information will be a positive step in the right direction for your student. Also, be sure to contact your child’s teacher if any questions or concerns arise. All of the teachers can be reached by message through the computer curriculum, via e-mail, and over the phone. Every weekday, each elementary teacher also hosts an hour-long online whiteboard session. This fantastic tool allows the teachers to draw diagrams, illustrate example problems, and walk you and your student through any lesson or concept that is providing an extra challenge. Be sure to take advantage of this handy learning tool!
The elementary teachers are also planning a variety of online classes each week that school is in session. These courses will focus on different subjects, concepts, and events, and are a great way for students to get to know their teachers and peers at ICA. Active students or their parents will receive a weekly e-mail on Fridays that contains the links and information needed for the following week’s online courses. Schedules for the online classes and office hours can also be found online. Some of the special events to look forward to include book clubs, art-extension activities, seasonal events, holiday parties, learning games, and other classes that review specific skills and concepts.
On that note, we hope you have a fantastic year! Be sure to keep in touch with your student’s teachers this school year. We look forward to a wonderful year of learning ahead.
