Rock Rapids, IA (September 13, 2012) – Ignite Christian Academy, an accredited online school for grades K-12, has chosen Stallions as the school's official mascot. The mascot name and logo were unveiled in the ICA Today school newsletter earlier today.
Following a school wide survey this past spring, where students, parents, faculty, and staff submitted suggestions for the ICA mascot, a vote was conducted, and Stallions was selected as the winning moniker.
"My reason for picking the white stallions is because of Revelation 19:11-16, where it speaks about the white horse whose rider is called Faithful and True and on his robe and on his thigh, he has written, ‘King of Kings and Lord of Lords," said one ICA student.
Celebrating 20 years in 2012, Ignite Christian Academy added a mascot to better promote a sense of school spirit among the over 2,300 students who attend the distance learning school.
"Many people are under the impression that mascots can only be used for sports, but that is not true," said Principal Deb Secord. "Mascots are an important part of academic institutions as well. They give students, parents, teachers, and administration a sense of pride, loyalty, unity, and belonging."
Students and supporters of the online school can purchase ICA Stallions merchandise and apparel at ICA's official school store. The gear includes a wide variety of products, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, magnets, and a 160-page journal.
