Ignite Christian Academy (ICA) has expanded its dual enrollment program with a new partnership through Houston Baptist University (HBU) for high school students who are interested in earning college credit.
Eligible ICA high school juniors and seniors will be able to save time and money toward a college degree by enrolling in select online college courses offered through the HBU Pampell Online Division. The program expands ICA’s existing dual enrollment program, which currently offers courses through the University of Northwestern — St. Paul. The program allows students to earn high school and college credit simultaneously.
“High school students today are increasingly focused on preparing for the future, and we’re pleased to offer courses that help them save time and money by earning high school and college credits simultaneously,” said Josh Rose, director of Ignite Christian Academy. “No matter what path our students follow after graduation, these courses will empower them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.”
Families can make their college dollars go further by using their 529 Savings Plan in high school, as opposed to during college, when courses are more expensive. Students who attend HBU after graduating from ICA’s dual enrollment program will also be eligible to receive scholarships that will reduce their tuition, as well as their room and board at the university.
“We are pleased to be able to offer Ignite Christian Academy students our academic, spiritual, and flexible program of study,” said Dr. Jay Spencer, associate vice president of HBU Pampell Online Division Operations. “Dual credit courses are an excellent opportunity for families to save time and money on future college costs.”
HBU is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. As such, credits will transfer to the majority of colleges in the United States, though families are advised to review with their colleges of choice before enrolling. Students who enroll in HBU courses will be assigned an academic advisor who will coach students toward which college courses they should take.
