Ignite Christian Academy is pleased to announce the release of six new career courses for Ignitia online curriculum.
Ranging in topic from national security and government to technology and manufacturing, the semester-long courses for grades 9-12 provide students with academic, life, and career skills to be used in high school, college, and the real world.
National Security Careers
Throughout the semester, students who are interested in protecting and serving our country explore a variety of career options in the military, coast guard, FBI, CIA, politics, photography, science, and more. In addition to careers, the course examines how national security has changed throughout the course of history and the pros and cons of what it looks like today.
Introduction to Consumer Services
Perfect for students who wish to land a career that involves helping others, this introductory course covers topics including record keeping, consumer advocacy, counseling, sales, translating, design, writing, and public relations. Recurring themes throughout the course include social issues, advocacy, ethics, and legalities.
A/V Technology and Film Careers
Throughout the semester, students explore the history of film, discover technology and techniques used in production, examine the steps involved in pre and post-production, and explore careers available within the film industry. Before the semester ends, students experience what it's like to produce their own (simple) independent film.
Introduction to Careers in Arts, A/V Technology, and Communication
This high school career course examines the level of education and skills required to compete within today's most popular communications fields including acting, technical production, art, journalism, and telecommunications systems. By conducting research about the jobs and current professionals within the industry, students plan a potential pathway toward their dream job.
Introduction to Careers in Government and Public Administration
Throughout the semester, students examine careers in politics and discover how they work together to make our government run. By examining the history and structure of the U.S. government and studying the relationship between local, state, and federal government, students learn about the electoral process, voting, political parties, and the process of making policies.
Introduction to Careers in Manufacturing
Delve into the fundamental principles that guide manufacturing in the United States. This course starts by exploring the economic effect of manufacturing in the U.S. and abroad, and then moves on to cover topics including process improvements, safety and regulations, career options, and advanced manufacturing.
