Ignite Christian Academy is pleased to announce the release of seven new career courses for Ignitia online curriculum.
Ranging in topic from engineering and software development to business and career management, the semester-long courses for grades 9-12 provide students with academic, life, and career skills to be used in high school, college, and beyond.
Business Law
Business Law provides students with an understanding of the vital legal concepts that affect commerce and trade. After learning how laws are created and interpreted, students spend time exploring both the different types of businesses that can be created to engage in commerce and the contractual and liability considerations that can impact businesses.
Career Management
This course helps high school students improve important career skills that apply to a variety of occupations. Specific skills that are refined throughout the semester include communication, leadership, decision making, problem solving, goal setting, and time management skills.
Engineering and Design
Throughout the semester, Students build real-world problem solving and critical thinking skills as they learn how to innovate and design new products. They also practice refining existing products by reversing the engineering process.
Engineering and Innovation
This career course provides an introduction to the concepts of invention and innovation, details about the scope and nature of engineering, and biblical principles that serve as the foundation for engineering and work in general.
Engineering and Product Development
Designed for students who are interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) careers, this course builds an understanding of the product life cycle. From the initial idea to drafting requirements to using 3-D modeling and other design tools, students spend the semester analyzing the life cycle of a product to prepare it for distribution to target markets.
Network System Design (also available in SOS)
In this course, students learn network terminology and fundamentals, as well as how to identify the needs and goals of both customers and businesses. Throughout the semester, students engage in discussions about network management, security strategies, data protection, switching routing protocols, and much more.
Software Development Tools (also available in SOS)
Throughout the semester, students learn how applications are created in commonly used software development tools, discover how web applications communicate with web browsers to prevent errors, and study various testing strategies to improve the quality of application software. Additional lesson content includes software development environments, prototyping techniques, language specific tools, and quality assurance of software products.
