Rock Rapids, IA (June 16, 2014) – Sixty-nine Ignite Christian Academy seniors from across the world participated in the online school's regional and virtual graduation ceremonies this spring.
ICA's graduating class of 2014 had the opportunity to cross the stage and receive their diploma at regional ceremonies in Allen, Texas, or Winter Park, Florida. Both ceremonies were followed by a reception for the graduates and their guests.
"Many ICA students interact with their classmates virtually in online courses, but the regional ceremonies provide a way for students to connect with classmates in person and celebrate their accomplishments together as they prepare to enter a new phase of life," Principal Joseph Bakker said.
To accommodate students unable to travel to the regional sites, ICA also hosted its third annual virtual graduation ceremony, which was broadcast live online from the campus of Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. Students from as far away as Trinidad, Israel, and South Africa took part in the virtual ceremony.
Each event included a moving graduation address, as well as the presentation of academic awards and diplomas. Twenty-two students who attended a ceremony graduated with honors, and four were members of the National Honor Society.
