Friday, May 8 marked a day of celebration at Ignite Christian Academy. That evening, 20 seniors gathered with family and friends for the first of this spring's commencement ceremonies honoring the class of 2015.
The graduation ceremonies are always a highlight of the spring activities at Ignite Christian Academy, and this year's event in Dallas, Texas was no exception.
Before the ceremony, students dressed in their caps and gowns waited nervously with smiles for the ceremony to begin. Cameras in the hands of parents flashed as the graduates entered to the sound of Pomp and Circumstance.
This year's graduate address was given by Kristen Hogrefe, a Christian school teacher and Christian fiction author. In her address entitled The Daniel Dares, she challenged the graduates to live for God by spending time with Him and using His word as their guide.
The presentation of diplomas near the end of the ceremony was accompanied by many cheers for the seniors as they received their much anticipated diplomas. Overall, the event was a time of great celebration and joy.
Each year Ignite Christian Academy holds three graduation ceremonies. The upcoming virtual ceremony takes place at 2:00 p.m. (CT) on May 22 at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. It will also be broadcasted live online. The final ceremony of 2015 will take place in Orlando, Florida, on Friday, June 5.
