Rock Rapids, IA (April 2, 2015) – Ignite Christian Academy history teacher, Jackie Harbach, has been named a finalist in the 2015 Turnitin All-Stars program.
Turnitin is a cloud-based service that Ignite Christian Academy uses to confirm the authenticity of student work. In addition to evaluating the originality of written work, Turnitin offers educators access to online grading and peer review tools.
The company's annual All-Stars program recognizes educators who uphold academic integrity within their educational institution, offer students engaging feedback to improve the quality of learning, or use Turnitin at their academic institution.
"I was surprised when I heard about my nomination," Harbach said. "It's a great feeling when someone notices your hard work."
Before joining the academy's history department, Harbach was an intervention coordinator at Ignite Christian Academy who dealt with issues concerning policies and academic integrity. She worked closely with students on outlining and implementing progress plans to help them get back on track.
"Ms. Harbach's nomination is a testimony of the great work she has done at Ignite Christian Academy to promote academic integrity," said Ignite Christian Academy Principal Joseph Bakker. "Her leadership has encouraged the whole faculty to make improvements to our standards and practices that ultimately help our students succeed in their coursework."
The winners of 2015 Turnitin All-Stars are scheduled to be announced later this month.
UPDATE: Jackie Harbach received honorable mention in the 2015 Academic Integrity All-Stars: Secondary Ed category. Congratulations on your accomplishment, Ms. Harbach!
