Ignite Christian Academy is excited to host its very first K-12 virtual art show! The show is designed to encourage students to share their artistic gifts with fellow ICA students and families.
So, why a virtual art show? Being an online school, we have fewer opportunities to engage with our students on an extracurricular level, but that doesn’t diminish the number of gifts and skills our students bring to the table. Many of our students are very talented artists, and their work should be shared. We also want to encourage those with no past art experience to participate, because one never sees their potential until they step out and try.
The art show opened on December 2, 2015 and closes January 5, 2016. All full-time ICA students are invited to create pieces of art that represent their national and/or state identities. This particular theme was selected because our student body is from all across the world. Our desire is to see our students dive into their individual cultures and share what they learn with their peers in the process. All submitted art will be displayed and winners will be announced on January 21, 2016.
Students who wish to participate should choose from the following categories, styles, and mediums when creating their art:
Categories
Drawings
Paintings
Photography
Styles
Abstract
Realistic
Anime/Manga
Surrealist
Mediums
Digital art
Pencil
Ink
Charcoal
Black/White (photography)
Paint (oil, acrylic, watercolor)
Don’t let these words scare you away! Our resident art instructor, Mr. Gesch, will be available to answer questions about these categories, styles, and mediums as you begin making your art.
Submissions are to be sent in JPG form to Ashley VanWyhe at avanwyhe@aoacademy.com no later than Tuesday, January 5, 2016. To qualify, the piece of art must represent the show’s theme and include a title, the student’s name, age, and grade, as well as the category, style, and medium used to create it. The contest is open to full-time ICA students only. Late submissions will not be accepted.
We look forward to seeing what you can create!
