This month, the elementary teachers would like to encourage all elementary students to pick up some good books and participate in Ignite Christian Academy's summer "Reading Rocks" challenge!
From August 1 to August 31, we're inviting students to read a certain number of books of their choosing to reach the goal set for their grade level. Students are free to complete the reading goal for any grade level more challenging than their own.
Students in grades K-2 are asked to read (or have someone read to them) 30 picture books.
Students in grades 3-4 have the option of reading 45 picture books or 2 chapter books.
Students in grades 5-6 are asked to read and complete 4 chapter books.
Participants should submit a list of titles, authors, and short one or two sentence summaries for each book they complete to Mrs. Holland at pholland@aoacademy.com by September 8, 2014. All students will receive a reading award for meeting their assigned reading goal.
The "Reading Rocks" challenge is a great way to encourage life-long reading habits and to get back into the swing of things before students start the school year. More information about the program will be sent out via email. For now, grab a good book and sit down with your distance learner to see how much "Reading Rocks!"
