ICA Snowboarders Train to Compete in Olympic Games
For the Kotsenburg family, snowboarding is part of daily life. Throughout the year they travel all over the world so that Sage and Kirra can train and compete. Kirra is a student-athlete in her senior year at Ignite Christian Academy. Sage graduated from ICA in 2011.

A Blooming Young Author
Isaiah Ramirez joined Ignite Christian Academy as a 3rd grade student in March of 2012. Since then, he has astonished teachers with his writing abilities. Isaiah not only does a fabulous job of avoiding spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors that are commonly seen in 3rd grade writing, but he also incorporates great detail and humor into his stories. Summer Reading Challenge Results
The elementary department at the academy just finished up its second annual summer reading challenge. The following students met their summer reading goals and were asked to participate in an online class book share where they could tell other students at the class about their favorite books and authors. Penmanship Predicament
Today, the vocabulary of young students includes words like blog, hashtag, and QR code. Elementary students learn the fundamentals of typing in class and often know how to operate computers and tablets by the time they start school. Distance learners and traditionally schooled students alike are learning to connect with students across the globe via video chat systems. But how many of these tech-savvy students can read and write cursive?
Fewer than ever before, studies show. As technology continues to advance, the value placed on penmanship declines. Yet the handwritten word appears to play an important role in literacy.

New Keyboarding and Applications Course Available in Ignitia
Rock Rapids, IA (August 19, 2013) – Students in grades 7 and 8 at Ignite Christian Academy can enhance their technological skills with a new Keyboarding and Applications course for Ignitia online curriculum.
The middle school elective equips distance learners with basic computer and communication skills that are essential to academic success. The skills students acquire from the course are also applicable within the workforce.
