About Me
I was born and raised in Middle Georgia. I absolutely love living here, except it gets very hot in August! I have five kids, and we have always homeschooled. We have 2 pets. One lab named Mr. G. Feeney and one fish named Gill-bert. As a family we love to go on hikes, walks, and bike rides.
Favorite Verse
2 Corinthians 4:16-18. I encourage you to look up this verse in your Bible. This verse holds such a special place in my heart. In my life, many struggles and trials have arisen, but God has always helped me to get through them. It also reminds me that when I am going through a trial, it will end, but I will come out a better person if I trust God.
First Job
My first job was working in a video rental store. Most kids today don’t even know what that is! I worked behind the counter and people would come in, especially on the weekends and choose a VHS tape to rent for three nights. They would return the tape, and if they forgot to rewind it, I had to charge their account. It is hard to believe, but my first job is now obsolete.
Hobbies
I am searching for a new hobby at the moment. My youngest son has become a birder – bird watcher. He loves to go to the park and look for birds or learn their calls. Since he can’t drive, I am his chaperone and I have found this hobby to be interesting and exciting.
Bucket List Item
I did a semester abroad teaching in Edsbyn, Sweden, and I would love to return and see the family I stayed with. It would be great to take my children to see the places I was able to visit. I would love to go to Spain. I took 4 years of college Spanish, but I never got to go. I also spent a summer at a camp in Westcliffe, Colorado called Uplift Mountain. Three of my five kids have spent summers there working and my big goal is to make sure my youngest two spend summers there as well.
Favorite Place
My favorite place that I have traveled to is Westcliffe, Colorado. I spent a summer there at a small Christian camp, and it changed my life. I learned more in those seven weeks than I have in my entire life.
Person I’d Like to Meet
This may sound very odd, but if I could meet one person, alive or dead, I think I would like to meet the head of the spies that General Washington used in the American Revolution. I find the stories about those spies to be very fascinating. I never learned about them in school, and once I stumbled across their story as an adult, I couldn’t seem to get enough. It must have been a frightening life to live and then to never really be recognized for the sacrifices they made. I would love to hear the stories those spies could tell.
