As students finish out the second half of summer vacation, teachers at Ignite Christian Academy would like to encourage elementary students to pick up some good books and participate in ICA's "Blast Off into Reading" challenge.
From July 20 to August 31, students are invited to complete the challenge by reading a certain number of books of their choosing to reach the goal set for their grade level. Students are free to complete the reading goal for any grade level more challenging than their own.
Students in grades K-2 are asked to read (or have someone read to them) 30 picture books.
Students in grades 3-4 have the option of reading 45 picture books or 3 chapter books.
Students in grades 5-6 are asked to read and complete 5 chapter books.
Participants should submit a list of titles, authors, and short one to three sentence summaries for each book they complete to Mrs. Holland at pholland@aoacademy.com. Submissions must be received by Tuesday, September 8, 2015. All students who complete their assigned reading goal will receive a reading award at the end of the challenge. So what are you waiting for? Grab a good book and "Blast Off into Reading!"
