As an elementary department, it is our plan to provide our students with many extracurricular events each school year. Here is just a quick glimpse of some of the classes and events that we have planned.
Every month, we have a book club and some literature corner courses where we read books together and discuss them as a group. We also have some monthly games and parties planned, including a Harvest Party, Christmas Party, Valentine Card Exchange, Pictionary, Jeopardy, and much more. In years past, we have also crowned a spelling bee champ, history bee finalists, and completed a virtual school science fair with our elementary student body.
Another cool thing to look out for are the elementary art classes. They are presently planned for once or twice a month, depending on attendance and participation.
Each of the elementary teachers also will hold a daily online whiteboard hour where students can meet with their teacher and work through problems or concepts that they are struggling with on the virtual whiteboard. This is a special tool that helps the visual learner by providing a screen that can be shared to help in demonstrations and provide example problems for student guidance. We are also available by phone, and we look forward to your calls and messages.
As elementary teachers, our goal is to provide a variety of classes that spark the interests of our wide range of students in hopes of bringing them all together. Although some of our classes have an academic focus, the majority will be just for fun and student interaction. Be watching your weekly emails for the online course list or check it out from your student’s dashboard under the external links tab.
Have a great year,
Your ICA Elementary Teachers
