A career course for students in grades 9-12, Business Law provides students with an understanding of the vital legal concepts that affect commerce and trade. After learning how laws are created and interpreted, students spend time exploring both the different types of businesses that can be created to engage in commerce and the contractual and liability considerations that can impact businesses.

Throughout the semester-long course, students also study laws that affect how businesses are regulated and, in particular, what impact administrative rules and regulations have on businesses. Like all Ignitia courses, Business Law is taught from a Christian worldview that is supported by Scripture.

Digital Arts is a semester-long elective that provides computer science students with an introduction to visualization-graphics programming on computers. To equip students for today’s digitally driven lifestyle, this course focuses on using a digital camera and the practical application of digital imaging and editing programs. Additionally, students work with audio-editing programs and also examine 3D technology and cinematography.

Throughout the course, students may be asked to answer questions or reflect on what they’ve read in their notes. The notes are not graded. Rather, they are a way for students to extend their thinking about the lesson content. Students may keep handwritten or typed notes. In addition to the default course program, Digital Arts includes 50 suggested resources that can be used to enhance instruction or address individual needs.

Explore the professional opportunities available within the field of health care! Careers in Allied Health for Ignitia online curriculum provides students with an overview of occupations in several different branches of the health care system.

The semester-long high school elective is ideal for those interested in learning more about nursing, physical therapy, dietetics, and other careers in health care.

Discover technology-laden career fields with Career Explorations II. This online elective helps middle school students choose high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses that dive deeper into their professional interests, strengths, and abilities. Throughout the semester, 7th and 8th grade students receive an inside look at jobs involving computers, computer support, agriculture, natural resources, and STEM.

Career Explorations II also give students a taste of what Ignitia’s high school computer courses offer. It is an ideal class for students who want to explore the possibility of a technology-based profession, as well as those who know that a career in technology is the path they plan to pursue.

Note: Career Explorations I is not a prerequisite for Career Explorations II.

Prepare students in grades 9-12 for the ACT with content-specific instruction in English, math, reading, science, and writing. Plus, learn helpful test-taking strategies. Each individual unit focuses on a specific subject and ends with a practice test to evaluate progress. The course culminates with four full-length ACT practice tests.

Because of its unique length, ACT Test Prep is offered at a special discounted rate.

Learn the basic rules, fundamental skills, and history of several sports in Physical Education. Throughout the year, students in grades 9-12 study the basics of football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, gymnastics, and more. Though the course is designed for beginners, it also serves as a good refresher for students with more advanced skills.

Access to a gym or track is ideal, as coursework also includes mile-long walks and runs, workouts with balls and other exercise equipment, and a series of 10 activities or drills to be completed by the student. Second semester coursework requires students to keep six three-week exercise logs as they complete their coursework.

Career Explorations I gives 7th and 8th grade students an inside look at jobs in health, hospitality, tourism, human services, and consumer services. During the semester, students learn about specific work-related tasks that are involved in each of these career paths as they study the importance of work and how it helps us.

Ultimately, Career Explorations I gives middle school students a taste of several career paths and prepares them to choose high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses that dive deeper into their field of interest.

Lay the foundation for a career in computer science or information technology by exploring how network systems operate. Ignitia’s Introduction to Network Systems helps online learners in grades 9-12 gain a basic understanding of the protocols and hardware used to build computer networks. Through the examination of network layers, students discover how the layers work together to help small or midsize networks function.

In addition, students study topics including Local Area Networks, Wide Area Networks, and network security throughout the semester. Worth 0.5 credits, this high school elective is ideal for students who plan to pursue work in the IT industry after graduation.

Whether students long for a career in technology or just want to learn more about computers, Fundamentals of Computer Systems is the perfect fit. During the one semester online course, students practice configuring computer settings, installing programs, and troubleshooting errors while studying operating systems and computer security.

Ideal for college and career preparation, Fundamentals of Computer Systems is particularly beneficial for high school students who desire a career in information technology or software development. Unlike many other Ignitia computer courses, Fundamentals of Computer Systems does not meet Ignite Christian Academy’s practical arts requirement.

Introduction to Information Technology helps high school online learners build a foundation for a career in information technology or software development. Students become familiar with the world of corporate information technology as they explore what it’s like to work as an IT professional.

Throughout the semester-long elective, students study communications technology, information systems, project management, mobile applications, and Internet utilization. Please note that this course does not meet Ignite Christian Academy’s practical arts requirement.
