The elementary teachers at Ignite Christian Academy strive to help students become independent learners, a quality that helps them succeed in their academy coursework. With that being said, we also hope to teach our students how to appropriately reach out for assistance when the going gets tough.
In order to receive beneficial help when reaching out to teachers, students must first devote time to studying and reviewing course content on their own. Reading and attempting lessons before reaching out to teachers for assistance allows students to identify specific types of problems or lessons that are giving them trouble which, in turn, helps teachers assign practice questions that address the trouble areas. Ultimately, putting in study time before reaching out to teachers helps minimize wasted time on both ends.
In order to help students develop the skills that they need to be successful learners at Ignite Christian Academy, the elementary teachers are planning numerous classes in the coming weeks that will focus on study skills, note taking, and individual review. We are also developing additional study guides for some of our courses to help students gain a better understanding of what to study and review before taking unit tests. Please note that this is a tedious process and that teachers will work on creating these guides as they have time between grading, answering phone calls, responding to emails, and teaching online classes. Presently, many classes have a review game at the end of the unit that can work like a study guide when played multiple times in order to get through all of the questions.
Above all, know that we are always here to help, but that we also want your children to develop the individual learning skills that they will need to be successful at ICA and as life-long learners. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to elementary lead teacher, Mrs. Holland, at 1-800-682-7396 ext. 6297 or your child’s individual teacher for more information.
