Ignite Christian Academy is excited to announce the extension of its dual credit program into the 2013-2014 school year. A total of five dual credit courses will be available through the program to full-time juniors and seniors with a current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Introduced in the spring of 2013, the dual credit program helps college-bound students work toward a college degree while simultaneously fulfilling ICA graduation requirements. Students register for the program though ICA, which then enrolls participants at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. Students work with teachers from the partner college throughout the semester to complete all coursework.
College writing and American national government will be offered during fall semester.
College Writing is a four-credit course that provides students with an introduction to academic writing, giving special emphasis to the writing process. Throughout the course, students learn strategies for pre-writing, drafting, and revising expository essays. The course also includes analysis of model essays, discussion of model essays, and an introduction to research-based writing.
American National Government is a broad survey of the major political and governmental institutions in the United States. The four-credit course examines how citizens attempt to influence their government and how the government responds. It also develops the foundations for a biblical perspective on the role of government and the role of citizens.
Students must register for fall semester dual credit courses by June 28, 2013. Registration for spring semester courses is also open at this time.
