One of the three most popular questions I receive after telling someone I just met that I work for an online Christian school is, “How does that work?” While online education continues to grow, there is still a lot to discover about the opportunities that online education provides. Did you know that ICA has a variety of extra-curricular activities available for students? While we haven’t started a virtual football team, here are a few activities that are available:
Writers Block
Writers Block was started by a student and teacher who wanted to provide an opportunity for students to share and develop their writing. Ms. Constantine leads the group and partners with other English teachers to share writing skills and lead group writing activities. Students have opportunities to share writing pieces to receive encouragement and suggestions from the rest of the group.
JUMPSTART
JUMPSTART is a group for students in grades 7-12 to learn about college preparation and career exploration. Led by ICA’s school counseling department, the group covers topics such as career clusters, college entrance exams, scholarships, and resume building. Students can join at any time and learn tips to prepare for their futures.
The Blue Umbrella
The Blue Umbrella is a school newsletter that was started by students, is written by students, and is published by students. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop your leadership skills while working with a group of peers from across the world. Check out their latest issue of The Blue Umbrella and contact Mrs. Smith if you would like to get involved.
Bible Study
Each week one of the ICA Bible teachers leads a Bible study by taking a closer look at small portions of scripture. Students can join at any time.
Art
Elementary students can create fun art projects in this activity led by Mrs. Holland. Supply lists are made available in advance, and students can do the projects along with Mrs. Holland as she shares her webcam.
These are just a few of the activities you can get involved in at ICA this spring. There are many more I didn’t mention, so please get involved and enjoy meeting other ICA students.
