The school counseling department at Ignite Christian Academy (ICA) serves students in grades 7-12 through a variety of avenues. Students are referred to our counselors for different reasons such as falling behind on their pacing to complete coursework within their school year. Those who are willing to work with school counselors learn to identify challenges, set goals, and learn strategies to be successful in their coursework.
The school counseling department also offers a variety of online classes and small group opportunities from August through May of each school year. Topics covered are geared toward academic success, college planning, and career readiness, as well as personal and emotional growth and development. In addition to online classes and small groups, the counseling department hosts large group meet ups each month. Students are invited to attend this informal online group to ask questions, and the school counselors provide answers to assist them in their academic and personal development.
Students should feel free to reach out to a school counselor with their problems with the assurance that confidentiality is maintained. The school counselor assists individual students in discovering what academic, emotional, social, or family difficulties may be causing challenges. The school counselor also discusses what supports are available to assist students in minimizing stress, making healthy decisions, and growing in their skill set.
