This December, several new features and changes were launched that will affect students. First, teachers will now use Zoom to conduct one-on-one student meetings, live classes, and student club meetings. This change is in an effort to have higher security so there is no unmoderated student communication. Students and parents, I encourage you to only allow your students to interact with other ICA students on platforms that can be moderated by ICA staff. We cannot control or obtain access to outside resources.
Our ICA Academic Support Rooms have also been updated so you can only visit during the open hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (CT) or 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (CT) for Spanish. Remember, you can go to these rooms if you need immediate help and all other appointments for your teacher are already booked. Please keep in mind that you may have to wait to get help, so it is always encouraged that you work directly with a teacher so you have a set time to get focused help.
You will also notice two new things on your Genius Dashboard: a Mentor Information tab and a Gradebook History tab.
Mentor Information: If you are referred to and accept to be mentored by one of our academic school counselors, you will see the counselor information on this tab. If you are not signed up specifically with an academic school counselor, then it will appear blank. Keep in mind an academic school counselor and your education coordinator are two different people. Your education coordinator can be reached by dialing 800-682-7396 and following the prompts.
Gradebook History: Moving forward, Gradebook History will give you a complete look at any courses you have completed at ICA. If you need to review grades from a previously completed course, you can look here for all your assignment scores in all of your classes.
In addition to the dashboard, you now also have the new benefit of the Score to Date feature. Located in your academic snapshot and gradebook, the Score to Date column will show you your grade if you leave any past due assignments incomplete.
