Rock Rapids, IA (August 19, 2013) – Students in grades 7 and 8 at Ignite Christian Academy can enhance their technological skills with a new Keyboarding and Applications course for Ignitia online curriculum.
The middle school elective equips distance learners with basic computer and communication skills that are essential to academic success. The skills students acquire from the course are also applicable within the workforce.
Keyboarding students practice proper typing technique and refine communication skills as they learn to use word processing programs and presentation software. Throughout the course, learners also study a variety of computer operating systems.
Though the course is designed for 7th and 8th grade students, 6th graders who receive prior approval from academy administration may register for Keyboarding and Applications.
In order to enroll in the semester-long course, students must have access to a word processor and presentation software. Ignite Christian Academy recommends Apache OpenOffice, which is available for free via a download.
