Rock Rapids, IA (April 13, 2015) – Located all around the world, a record number of Ignite Christian Academy seniors are eagerly awaiting their turn to participate in the online school's upcoming graduation ceremonies.
Ninety-two members of the class of 2015 will attend one of ICA's three regional or virtual graduation ceremonies this spring.
The regional ceremonies, which offer students the opportunity to receive their diplomas and meet their classmates in person, are scheduled to take place in the Dallas and Orlando areas on May 8 and June 5 respectively. Each live ceremony is followed by a reception for the graduates and their guests.
ICA's April student of the month and soon-to-be graduate Romando Cassells hopes to make the trek from his home country of Jamaica to Orlando, Florida, for the June 5 ceremony.
"I am looking forward to meeting some of the Ignite Christian Academy staff at the ceremony," Cassells said. "I am anxious to see and meet the other graduates, too. Putting on that cap and gown and joining the procession will be a dream come true and make all my hard work worth it."
To accommodate students who are unable to travel to the regional sites, ICA also hosts a virtual graduation ceremony that is broadcast live online from the campus of Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. The 2015 virtual graduation ceremony is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. (CT) on Friday, May 22.
"This year we are excited about the large number of seniors participating in our graduation events," ICA Principal Joseph Bakker said. "The virtual ceremony allows our students from all over the world to come together and celebrate with their classmates."
In 2014, graduates from as far away as Trinidad, Israel, and South Africa took part in the virtual ceremony.
