Rock Rapids, IA (March 4, 2013) – Students who wish to participate in one of Ignite Christian Academy's traditional or virtual graduation ceremonies can now register for the events. The two regional ceremonies will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10, in Allen, Texas and Friday, June 7, in Maitland, Florida. The virtual ceremony will be hosted by Dordt College at 2 p.m. (CT) on Friday, May 24.
Each graduation will include a traditional cap and gown ceremony, an address to the graduates, and the presentation of diplomas. The regional ceremonies will be followed by a reception for the graduates, their families, and friends.
Regional ceremony participants can also choose to take part in a special graduation outing known as the Day Away, where they can meet and spend time with fellow classmates prior to commencement. This year, students can participate in The Ultimate Quest, a team building scavenger hunt at Dave & Buster's. Families of the graduates are welcome to attend. Each participating graduate must be accompanied by an adult, and all attendees are responsible for their own $20-$25 admission.
Dr. Deborah Secord, head principal at Ignite Christian Academy, said she looks forward to everything the graduation ceremonies have to offer.
"I am excited about this year's graduation ceremonies, as they allow ICA faculty and administration to celebrate our students' achievements with families and students," said Secord. "I'm also excited about our Day Away at Dave & Buster's. This is a time when we just have fun and fellowship with our students and their families. I look forward to this event each year."
Graduates who are unable to attend a traditional ceremony can choose to participate in ICA's virtual ceremony. Students have the flexibility to participate in this event from anywhere in the world. Likewise, friends and family members with an Internet connection can watch the live online broadcast of the ceremony from their own location. Connection instructions will be sent to registered participants and posted on ICA's resource center in the days prior to the ceremony.
The cost per graduate to participate in a live ceremony is $150. Participation in the virtual ceremony costs $50 per graduate. Each ceremony fee includes a cap, gown, and senior T-shirt.
Students wishing to participate in a graduation ceremony must sign up by Friday, March 22, and have fewer than 30 units of coursework left to complete by the application deadline. Students who are curious about their current progress may contact their academic advisor with questions.
Students who wish to register for graduation, sign up for the Day Away, or receive more information may contact their academy services representative at 800-682-7396.
