As an online Christian school, Ignite Christian Academy offers so much more than just academics. While we haven’t started a virtual football team, here are just a few great opportunities we offer for students to get involved at ICA!
Weekly Student Prayer
All students are invited and encouraged to join the Monday Prayer Go-to-Meeting online “class.” The Prayer Assembly is facilitated typically by Mr. Bouwman or Mr. Williams, ICA Bible teachers. The first few minutes are spent compiling praises and requests that are on attending students’ hearts. We then read a verse from the Bible to focus our minds on God. Then, students are given the opportunity to pray out loud leading the group in prayer. Students can pray for items on the compiled list, or they can pray for something additional that was on their heart. We typically recite the Lord’s Prayer to conclude our prayer time.
The Blue Umbrella
The Blue Umbrella is a school newsletter that was started by students, is written by students, and is published by students. This is a wonderful opportunity to develop your leadership skills while working with a group of peers from across the world. Contact Mrs. Smith if you would like to get involved.
Cooking Club
Hosted by Ms. Escobedo on the third Friday of the month, the cooking club consists of a group of students who select a cooking challenge to prepare at home. Then, they share the results of the challenge at the next meeting.
Elementary
The elementary department at Ignite Christian Academy has planned many classes and events for elementary students throughout the school year.
JUMPSTART Your Future
JUMPSTART is a group for students in grades 7-12 to learn about college preparation and career exploration. Led by ICA’s school counseling department, the group covers topics such as career clusters, college entrance exams, scholarships, and resume building. Students can join at any time and learn tips to prepare for their futures.
National Honor Society
The National Honor Society recognizes high school students for leadership, character, academic achievement, and service. Acknowledging much more than achievement, the organization seeks to help students grow by encouraging leadership and service. New members with at least a 3.5 GPA are eligible to submit their applications and recommendations in November. If accepted, they are inducted in January. For more information, contact Mrs. Funk.
Writers Block
Writers Block was started by a student and teacher who wanted to provide an opportunity for students to share and develop their writing. Students have opportunities to share writing pieces to receive encouragement and suggestions from the rest of the group.
