Slowdown and Savor the Christmas Season
As decorations go up during one of the busiest seasons of the year, there is a buzz of Christmas excitement in the air. The elementary department is planning its annual Christmas Extravaganza and teachers are preparing Christmas-themed online classes. Students, staff, and parents are busy shopping, planning, traveling, and spending time with family. Though Christmas is a fun and busy time of year, we all know there is much more to the season than busyness.

The Sparkle Box: A Way to Spread Christ’s Love
As we move into a new season, the elementary teachers are working to prepare our students for the blessings that Christmas brings. Along with all the joys of the season, from getting together with friends and family to the long-awaited Christmas gifts, we hope to put the true meaning of Christmas back into play.
On November 20, Mrs. Wieneke will read The Sparkle Box by Jill Hardie during her online class. The inspirational story encourages us all to write down the things that we do for others and save them in a sparkling gift box for reflection as we prepare for the coming of Christ.

Students Spread Christmas Cheer with Sparkle Boxes
Along with all of the festive games and activities that were planned for the ICA Christmas party, this year the elementary department also included the story The Sparkle Box by Jill Hardie. As the main character, Sam, anxiously awaits Christmas, his mother records the good deeds he completes throughout the season and adds them to the sparkle box.
