Traveling to the Bahamas to study in a summer marine biology program was truly one of the most amazing, enriching, and formative experiences I have ever had in all of my fifteen years!
Scouring the internet for a reliable and reputable summer camp was somewhat of a chore. I personally was looking for a camp that contained a marine biology component with college credit (or something similar), had a lot of scuba diving and outdoor activities, and was simply welcoming and fun! To say that my adventure abroad met these expectations is an understatement.
What I really loved about the trip was the safe, family-like environment I experienced among my group. The instructors were exceedingly qualified and trained to handle any situation, but more importantly, they were friendly and easy to talk to. All students were encouraged to interact with each other, and exclusive relationships were strongly discouraged. This group mentality lead to better teamwork and leadership skills.
During the trip I learned to lead confidently, explore new boundaries, excel in everything I chose to do, and leverage my strengths to complement the strengths of others in the group to achieve a common goal. I highly recommend traveling abroad to anyone looking to broaden their view of the world, experience other cultures, and take part in exhilarating outdoor adventures.
