Preparing for college is a big task that requires careful planning and decision making. Colleges and universities have different entrance requirements and deadlines, making it challenging to navigate the list of tasks to complete. For the most accurate information, Ignite Christian Academy always recommends contacting specific colleges or universities directly. However, we can offer some general guidelines and tips to help you prepare.
Ignite Christian Academy recommends that all high school juniors and seniors take either the ACT or SAT. Even if you are not planning to attend college after graduation, the tests are useful resources to help you attend college at a later time or gain admittance to a vocational school. They can also be used to replace the MAP test requirement for ICA students.
When taking the SAT or ACT, students should always include the ICA school code: 163779. This ensures that ICA receives an official copy of your test results which will be included with your academic records.
Students interested in taking either exam can find a lot of information on the ACT and SAT websites. They provide complete lists of all test dates, registration deadlines, fees, and test centers. The websites also provide a variety of supplementary resources such as practice tests, tips for test preparation, and a test day checklist. Most importantly, you can register for the test online and request that your scores be sent to specific colleges or universities both before and after you complete the exam.
Another important part of preparing for college is to start planning early. Research the schools you are interested in to determine their entrance requirements and application deadlines. This will ensure that you have time to add important classes to your high school course plan and meet the application deadlines.
Families and students who are seeking guidance or assistance with college preparations may contact their education coordinator for resources and support.
