This spring, Ignite Christian Academy is offering students ages 14 and older the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tour our nation’s capital with their teachers and peers. The six-day trip to Washington, D.C., and Williamsburg, Virginia, is scheduled for April 17-22 and includes tours of well-known monuments and museums. Check out this short video to learn more about the trip, and read on for five top reasons to participate.
1. Get a Hands-on View of History
While reading about historical events and viewing photos online are great ways to learn, something about setting foot within the Holocaust Museum and the Smithsonian Institution brings history and art to life. During your time in D.C., you’ll also visit important historical sites and memorials, including Mount Vernon, Colonial Williamsburg, the White House, the Washington Monument, the Pentagon Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial, and more.
2. Meet Your Teachers
While you’re encouraged to attend online classrooms and connect with your teachers throughout the school year, meeting and learning from them in person is a phenomenal opportunity that’s hard to pass up. Learning from them in real life only strengthens student-teacher relationships, which can and often do last long after high school graduation.
3. Strengthen Your Faith
In addition to bookending your trip with devotional discussions about God’s hand in American history and your unique role in His plan for our nation’s future, you’ll begin each day of the trip with inspiring daily devotions.
4. Make New Friends
One of the biggest perks of participating in a school trip is the opportunity to form lifelong Christian friendships with your classmates. While ICA provides numerous opportunities for students to connect by participating in clubs, interacting on the student center, or attending live graduation ceremonies, traveling with an educational group fosters the formation of friendship in a way that can’t be found anywhere else.
5. Expand Your Worldview
No matter how many times you’ve studied something in school, approaching it from a new, up-close angle has a way of transforming your understanding and perception of the event. Join us in April and see for yourself!
