Ignite Christian Academy has offered achievement testing through the Measure of Academic Progress test, or MAP test, for several years. In the past, students connected to the test using a remote desktop connection. We are excited to announce that Ignite Christian Academy will now be offering the MAP test online. This web-based MAP test will allow us to bring our achievement testing services to an even higher level.
With the change from server-based to web-based MAP testing will come a few other changes. The changes will be included in the instructions sent to parents the afternoon before the test, but we want to give you a sneak preview.
With the online test, families no longer sign up for a morning or afternoon testing session. Instead, the test will be available throughout the day between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (CT). Students may begin the test each hour, on the hour, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (CT). Students must be logged in to the MAP test at least five minutes before the hour they are scheduled to test. If a student misses the five minute window, he or she will need to wait until the next hour to begin the test.
In addition, students will now log in to a website, instead of to a remote desktop, to take the MAP test. However, the MAP test itself is still the same great achievement test.
Fall testing will be available starting in late August and will run through November. Full-time Ignite Christian Academy students in grades 3 through 10 are required to take the MAP test twice each year, once in the fall and once in the spring. Please refer to the ICA resource center to review our full achievement testing policy and contact your education coordinator to schedule your child for the web-based MAP test.
