Ignite Christian Academy Launches Dual Credit Program
Rock Rapids, IA (October 16, 2012) – Ignite Christian Academy, an accredited online school for grades K-12, has launched a dual credit program that allows ICA students to enroll in online college-level courses and receive college and high school credits simultaneously.
Dr. Deb Secord, the director of Ignite Christian Academy, said the dual credit program was created to save college-bound students tuition money and time in completing college credits early. The program is eligible for juniors and seniors who have a current GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Earn College Credit through ICA’s New Dual Credit Program
Starting next January, ICA students can get a head start on college with the new dual credit program at Ignite Christian Academy! Recommended to college-bound juniors and seniors who have a current GPA of 3.0 or higher, the new program helps students work toward a college degree while also receiving credit at ICA.
In the program, students register through ICA only, and ICA enrolls them in an online course at a private Christian college.* Students then work directly with the partner college's teachers for instruction and assignments.

From the Dean’s Desk – Tips for Getting Teacher Help
"He who gives attention to the word will find good, And blessed is he who trusts in the Lord" (Proverbs 16:20).
October means that school is in full swing at Ignite Christian Academy. Students are busy working through lessons, studying for quizzes and tests, and completing projects. Meanwhile, teachers are busy grading projects, hosting online classrooms, hosting online office hours, and helping students with their coursework. As we move into a busy fall semester, I would like to take a little time to reflect on the ICA school verse.

New Current Events Class Engages High School Students

On a weekly basis, I heard this quote from my history teacher, and now that I am a history teacher myself, I realize just how true that statement is. The issues with the economy, for example, are issues that the United States has dealt with in the past. Now, we are trying to handle them the same way, and it looks like we are getting similar results. This continuous circle of events is what got me interested in history in the first place.

Online Elementary Classroom Explores Constellations
Mrs. Blind, one of our elementary teachers, led an online classroom that focused on the constellations in our beautiful night sky. She discussed what the constellations are and the Greek myths and stories behind some of them. The class also talked about a few of the major constellations like Ursa Major and Minor and the roles these "star pictures" played in history.

ICA Teachers Attend Christian Educators’ Convention
The teachers and staff at Ignite Christian Academy recently attended the Heartland Christian Educators' Convention at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. Teachers from around the area came together to listen, learn, and grow in their commitments to excel as Christian educators in both knowledge and spirit.
The theme of the convention was "deeply rooted" and was based upon Jeremiah 17:7-8. "But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

Attend the October Observations Social Event
At Ignite Christian Academy, part of our mission is to educate the whole child – not just academically, but also spiritually and socially. Part of the way we offer this social growth is through our monthly social activities. These events have ranged from Wii video game parties to guided conversations.
This month, we invite all students in grades 7-12 to join your fellow students for October Observations on Wednesday, October 24. This online social event will cover questions like "What is the best soft drink?" and "Who is your favorite football team?" Come ready to share your thoughts in the chat and vote for your favorites.
