Our July student of the month is Grant Harris, a sophomore at Ignite Christian Academy who currently calls the Greater Milwaukee area home. After having Grant as a student in Science 9B and Biology A, Mrs. Tracy Oleson nominated Grant for his desire to learn and submit quality work. “Grant isn’t shy and is a regular visitor to my online office hours,” Oleson said. “He comes with very specific questions about the science content and the assignment expectations. Ignite Christian Academy Graduate Wins Developer Scholarship from Apple, Inc.
Kasey Schlaudt, a 2017 graduate of Ignite Christian Academy (ICA) from Colorado Springs, recently won a prestigious scholarship from Apple, Inc. to attend the 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWCD), which was held June 5-9 in San Jose, California.
To qualify for the scholarship, Schlaudt created a visually interactive scene in Swift Playgrounds that could be experienced within three minutes. Swift Playgrounds is an iPad exclusive app designed to teach Apple’s Swift programming language. Because Colorado Springs has one of the nation’s worst suicide rates, Schlaudt used his coding skills to incorporate the science behind preventing suicides into a short game.

Meet Joshua DiGiacoma
Our June student of the month is Joshua DiGiacoma, a sophomore at Ignite Christian Academy who lives an hour outside downtown Chicago. Despite a number of medical hardships, Joshua has excelled at school and playing the violin. According to Mrs. Kristy Mays, Joshua “has always tried to make stay on top of his schoolwork even when in the hospital. He is a great student and a very polite kid.” [Read more…]
Four Ignite Christian Academy Students Qualify for National History Bee
Four students at Ignite Christian Academy qualified for the 2017 National History Bee Finals, which were held June 2-4 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Matthew Clayton, a fourth grader from Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, and Elizabeth Will, a sixth grader from Estelline, South Dakota, qualified in the elementary division. In addition, Tyler Burkhart of Columbus, Ohio, and Joseph Johnson of Prescott Valley, Arizona, made the championship event for seventh grade students. Johnson was one of only four 7th graders to qualify from the Phoenix regional.

Meet Elena Gonzalez
Our May student of the month is Elena Gonzalez, an ice-skating loving Floridian who lives just a stone’s throw away from the Atlantic Ocean. After reading Elena’s service project report for Christian faith and living, Mr. Roy Williams nominated the senior for student of the month because of her initiative and ministry work with Special Olympics and the homeless. Fighting Spring Fever
It’s that time of the year again when we get a new “bug” in our homes and classrooms. We finally get through the cold and flu season and break the cycle of being stuck inside due to the cold weather, just in time for “spring fever” to make its appearance. You may notice the symptoms of staring out the window, pulling out the sunglasses, or just begging for time outside to play. This condition can affect the young and old alike, and it can make school an extra challenge for any student. However, the tasks of the day don’t change, and there are minimums that need to be met to finish your school projects and curriculum on time. Meet Noah Schwenk
Our March student of the month is Noah Schwenk, a junior at Ignite Christian Academy who lives near the forest lands and lakes of northern Wisconsin just a few miles from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
