What Christmas Is All About
It’s that time of year when Christmas is around the corner. The excitement of the holidays has already been building. For some of us, the preparations may be as exciting as they are for my daughter. Already in mid-November, she was making homemade gifts for each person in the family, wrapping them, and placing them in the corner where the Christmas tree would stand a couple of weeks later. Since then she has been joyfully practicing Christmas carols on the piano and violin.

2018 Graduation Ceremonies
Join us for one of Ignite Christian Academy’s 2018 graduations. ICA will host three graduations, two regional and one virtual ceremony.
The Dallas area regional ceremony will be held in Allen, Texas, on May 11, 2018, at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church. The Orlando area regional ceremony will be held on June 8, 2018, at Eastland Christian School in in Orlando, Florida. In addition, the academy will offer a virtual ceremony on May 25, 2018, as an option for students unable to travel to one of our scheduled ceremony locations.

2017-18 Elementary School Year Preview
Welcome to the start of the 2017-18 school year at Ignite Christian Academy! We are so excited to have you as a part of our school family. We also wanted to give you a little heads up to some of the events that are planned in our elementary department throughout the year.

Ignite Christian Academy Graduate Wins Developer Scholarship from Apple, Inc.
Kasey Schlaudt, a 2017 graduate of Ignite Christian Academy (ICA) from Colorado Springs, recently won a prestigious scholarship from Apple, Inc. to attend the 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWCD), which was held June 5-9 in San Jose, California.
To qualify for the scholarship, Schlaudt created a visually interactive scene in Swift Playgrounds that could be experienced within three minutes. Swift Playgrounds is an iPad exclusive app designed to teach Apple’s Swift programming language. Because Colorado Springs has one of the nation’s worst suicide rates, Schlaudt used his coding skills to incorporate the science behind preventing suicides into a short game.

Four Ignite Christian Academy Students Qualify for National History Bee
Four students at Ignite Christian Academy qualified for the 2017 National History Bee Finals, which were held June 2-4 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Matthew Clayton, a fourth grader from Mount Morris, Pennsylvania, and Elizabeth Will, a sixth grader from Estelline, South Dakota, qualified in the elementary division. In addition, Tyler Burkhart of Columbus, Ohio, and Joseph Johnson of Prescott Valley, Arizona, made the championship event for seventh grade students. Johnson was one of only four 7th graders to qualify from the Phoenix regional.
