Take a Closer Look
With the start of a new year, Ignite Christian Academy is excited to introduce a new Closer Look feature to the ICA Today. Each month, we'll feature photos and stories from our students on a wide variety of topics, so we can learn how you spend your time outside school.
For this introductory edition, we took a closer look at the favorite holiday traditions and events of your ASRs, academic advisors, teachers, and administrators. Check out the slideshow to see which one of your teachers goes to Florida for Christmas, who sings "Happy Birthday" to baby Jesus, and who attends a Wild West gun show!

Achieve Your Best in 2013
As I hung a fresh, new calendar on the wall at Ignite Christian Academy, I began to look forward to a new year full of opportunities and accomplishments. It's a chance for us all to set some new goals and work towards the things we want to achieve.
While many of us are making commitments for the new year, I also want to encourage students to take advantage of the opportunities at Ignite Christian Academy. Here are some extra things you can do to achieve your best in 2013:

Breaking the Ice Social Event Planned for January 30
Each January, the roads and fields outside the Ignite Christian Academy office in Northwest Iowa are often covered in snow and ice. That's why this month's social event is geared toward breaking the ice!
Sometimes it can be hard to get to know new people, especially if they live hundreds of miles away. With that in mind, ICA will host the Breaking the Ice social event on January 30 at 3 p.m. (CT), where 7th-12th grade students at ICA will have the opportunity to break the ice and warm up to some of their classmates.

If You Give a Puppy Pumpkin Pie
On November 21, 2012, Mrs. Wieneke led a fantastic online class for students in grades 3-7 that focused on the importance of organization when writing stories. The class then went over a couple student-written paragraphs, and the children awarded scores of 1-5 for the organization within the writing samples.
The students in attendance were also challenged to create a well-organized story with a similar chain of events, building off the title "If You Give a Puppy Pumpkin Pie." Here are a couple creative examples we received in response to the extension activity.
