Ignite Christian Academy Graduate Wins Developer Scholarship from Apple, Inc.
Kasey Schlaudt, a 2017 graduate of Ignite Christian Academy (ICA) from Colorado Springs, recently won a prestigious scholarship from Apple, Inc. to attend the 2017 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWCD), which was held June 5-9 in San Jose, California.
To qualify for the scholarship, Schlaudt created a visually interactive scene in Swift Playgrounds that could be experienced within three minutes. Swift Playgrounds is an iPad exclusive app designed to teach Apple’s Swift programming language. Because Colorado Springs has one of the nation’s worst suicide rates, Schlaudt used his coding skills to incorporate the science behind preventing suicides into a short game.

Get Involved at ICA!
One of the three most popular questions I receive after telling someone I just met that I work for an online Christian school is, “How does that work?” While online education continues to grow, there is still a lot to discover about the opportunities that online education provides. This condition can affect the young and old alike, and it can make school an extra challenge for any student. However, the tasks of the day don’t change, and there are minimums that need to be met to finish your school projects and curriculum on time. To help your child finish strong as he completes his final assignments and projects for the school year, try a few of these tricks to use his “spring fever” to his advantage. [Read more…]
Praise the Lord, It’s Christmas!
Christmas is coming, and that means the songs are on the radio and lights brighten neighborhoods in the evening. Though we see many expressions of the celebration of Christmas at this time of year, including decorations, family events, and Christmas specials, I am reminded of how Simeon celebrated Christ’s birth. Elementary Students Express Creativity through Art Classes
The elementary department has been adapting some of their online class offerings this year. One big change is the addition of our online elementary art class. This is a big adjustment with the addition of using webcams and creating the art projects right along with the students. The art projects that are chosen relate to specific artistic styles, holiday themes, or children’s stories that are read to the group as part of the classes. [Read more…]
