ICA Teachers Lead Sessions at Heartland Convention
On October 2 and 3, Ignite Christian Academy teachers and staff attended the 2014 Heartland Christian Educators' Convention at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. Christian educators from Minnesota, Iowa, and South Dakota came together, keeping the mission of the event in mind: "To support the Biblical calling and task of Christian schools by providing collaborative learning opportunities for teachers and administrators."
Two Ignite Christian Academy teachers, Mr. Gesch and Mrs. Pulkrabek, had the opportunity to present at this year's conference, offering wisdom from their time in the teaching community to their peers.

The Sparkle Box: A Way to Spread Christ’s Love
As we move into a new season, the elementary teachers are working to prepare our students for the blessings that Christmas brings. Along with all the joys of the season, from getting together with friends and family to the long-awaited Christmas gifts, we hope to put the true meaning of Christmas back into play.
On November 20, Mrs. Wieneke will read The Sparkle Box by Jill Hardie during her online class. The inspirational story encourages us all to write down the things that we do for others and save them in a sparkling gift box for reflection as we prepare for the coming of Christ.

Ignite Christian Academy Introduces Extend Academic Support Hours
This summer, Ignite Christian Academy launched a pilot program to test the need for extended academic support hours. The summer program was a big success, prompting the online academy for grades K-12 to offer extended hours on a permanent basis.

ICA’s Summer Reading Rocks Challenge
This month, the elementary teachers would like to encourage all elementary students to pick up some good books and participate in Ignite Christian Academy's summer "Reading Rocks" challenge!

Sixth Grader Wins Annual Academy Spelling Bee
On June 25, Ignite Christian Academy hosted its third annual Academy Spelling Bee. Fifteen students in grades K-6 used webcams to connect with and cheer on their classmates during the competition.
Sixth grader Victoria P. won the bee by spelling the word "enthusiastic."
