February’s high school student of the month for Ignite Christian Academy is Naiden Tannehill. Naiden is an 11th grade student who has been with the academy for eight years! Naiden and his family love the flexibility that our faith-based curriculum offers and that he can work at his own pace and spend more time doing the things he loves. Naiden was nominated for this honor by his math teacher, Mrs. Repka who noted “Naiden works extremely hard and is dedicated to his work. He is a joy to teach and is always ready to learn.”
Why I Love ICA
My favorite part of online learning is the flexibility. I can work whenever and wherever I want to, and I always work ahead, so I can take a day or two off if need be. I also love that I am able to finish my semesters two months ahead and enjoy a long break between semesters. Best of all, I don’t have to wake up early for school.
During the time that I’ve been with ICA, the one thing that surprised me was how helpful the teachers are. I also love how the students in my clubs are very welcoming even when I didn’t know anyone.
My Favorite Subject
My favorite subject of all-time is History because I like to learn about different cultures and I also love stats, but my favorite subject at the moment is math because it makes me think and I like working with numbers.
Where I Live
I live in Ohio in a suburban community about 20 minutes north of Dayton, and the thing that I enjoy about living here is that, for the most part, the people are nice and friendly.
My Free Time
I like to spend my free time by hanging out with friends, watching NASCAR, and hunting when it’s open season. If there’s one thing that others might be surprised to learn about me, it’s that I can play the piano. I’ve been taking lessons for nearly eight years, and I hope to have a music career on the side someday.
Something I am Proud of
I am most proud of what I’ve done so far in a youth organization called DeMolay for young men ages 12-21. I’ve been a member for over three years so far, and I’ve accomplished a lot in that timeframe. The organization has taught me how to be a better leader, a better man, and a better friend. I’ve received the Grand Master’s Excellence in Youth award, my Past Master Councilor’s Meritorious Service Award, and the Representative DeMolay award.
After I Graduate from ICA
After I graduate high school, I plan on going to community college for two years and get my Associate’s in computer science. After that, I plan on going to Wright State for another two years to get my Bachelor’
My Dream Job
If I could have any job in the world, I would choose to be a NASCAR driver. I’ve been watching since I was only 3, and since then I have wanted to be a NASCAR driver. That dream still hasn’t died and I don’t think it ever will.
My Words of Wisdom
I would say that you shouldn’t be afraid to ask questions if you don’t understand something, that’s what our teachers are there for.
