It’s that time of the year again when we get a new “bug” in our homes and classrooms. We finally get through the cold and flu season and break the cycle of being stuck inside due to the cold weather, just in time for “spring fever” to make its appearance. You may notice the symptoms of staring out the window, pulling out the sunglasses, or just begging for time outside to play. This condition can affect the young and old alike, and it can make school an extra challenge for any student. However, the tasks of the day don’t change, and there are minimums that need to be met to finish your school projects and curriculum on time. Elementary Students Express Creativity through Art Classes
The elementary department has been adapting some of their online class offerings this year. One big change is the addition of our online elementary art class. This is a big adjustment with the addition of using webcams and creating the art projects right along with the students. 5th Grader Wins Annual Academy Spelling Bee
On Friday, May 1, Ignite Christian Academy held its fourth annual Academy Spelling Bee. Thirteen students in grades 1-6 participated in this year's event, with 5th grader Faith P. taking the 2015 title of super speller!

ICA Hosts Second Annual Science Fair on April 22
On Tuesday, April 22, Ignite Christian Academy plans to host its second annual ICA Science Fair. Elementary teachers are planning an online classroom at 2:00 p.m. (CT) that afternoon where students in grades K-6 will present the projects they have been working on for the past few weeks.

The Sparkle Box: A Way to Spread Christ’s Love
As we move into a new season, the elementary teachers are working to prepare our students for the blessings that Christmas brings. Along with all the joys of the season, from getting together with friends and family to the long-awaited Christmas gifts, we hope to put the true meaning of Christmas back into play.
On November 20, Mrs. Wieneke will read The Sparkle Box by Jill Hardie during her online class. The inspirational story encourages us all to write down the things that we do for others and save them in a sparkling gift box for reflection as we prepare for the coming of Christ.

Ignite Christian Academy Introduces Extend Academic Support Hours
This summer, Ignite Christian Academy launched a pilot program to test the need for extended academic support hours. The summer program was a big success, prompting the online academy for grades K-12 to offer extended hours on a permanent basis.
